Advocating for Equality
PFLAG Triangle advocates for the rights and acceptance of LGBTQ individuals by having a presence at public and community events such as Out! Raleigh, Equality NC Annual Conference, NC Pride Parade, Transgender Day of Remembrance, Drag Bingo, and National Lobby Day. We participated in a phone calling campaign on the NC Marriage Amendment referendum of 2012. We write letters on behalf of our gay families and send them to newspapers, schools, and anywhere where we can lend our voice.
To support our advocacy mission, please consider becoming a PFLAG Triangle Volunteer.
Indy Ad
PFLAG Triangle sponsors a yearly ad in Indy Week signed by nearly 200 individuals, faith groups, and businesses. The ad, coinciding with September’s Pride Parade and reaching nearly 40,000 people, reads:
We, the undersigned, affirm the lives of gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, and transgender people. We condemn acts of bigotry and hatred. We join PFLAG in celebrating the lives of those we love and admire: acceptance and love … family values for a lifetime.
Assisting Other Organizations
