Educating Ourselves and Others

Educational Programs

As part of our mission to dispel myths and misinformation, we offer educational meetings within our monthly format. Some past topics have included: Marriage Equality; Transgender 101, 102 and 103; LGBTQ families and the Holidays; NC Amendment One; Gay Friendly Mental Health resources; Understanding the Bible and Homosexuality; Advocacy and the NC Legislature among others. Movie showings with discussions have included such films as Call Me Malcolm, For the Bible Tells Me So, and Anyone and Everyone.

Speakers Bureau

As part of our mission to educate the community on LGBTQ issues, PFLAG Triangle will design a presentation for your organization or group. We provide LGBTQ or straight ally speakers and fit the program to a specific request and time frame. We can share our personal stories about having a gay son or daughter or a transgender child, answer questions that pertain to the LGBTQ community, and provide training on being a straight ally - someone who will feel empowered to stand up for the LGBTQ people they know.

Our presentations are available for a variety of audiences, including civic organizations, corporate diversity training, faith communities, faculty and administrator trainings, classroom discussions and assemblies, diversity days, day of silence programs, health fairs, violence prevention workshops, panel discussions, and Parent Teacher Organization meetings.
